Home is where the heart is, but at the Hermitage it’s also where the perks are. Part of our mission at the Hermitage is making sure you enjoy your life in every possible way.
That’s why we provide our residents with many ways to satisfy all their daily living needs, to edify the soul, and to relax and unwind. At the Hermitage, let us make your retirement carefree, gratifying and fun.
At the Hermitage, you don’t have to worry about getting to where you need to go. We offer safe, reliable transportation to the places you need to be, like doctors’ appointments and shopping excursions, within a 20-mile radius. Come along for the ride, and let us do the driving.
From New Year’s Day, to New Year’s Eve, the Hermitage provides a year-round celebration of all the major holidays for our residents. Our community events open the doors to your family and friends with themed-food choices, games and fellowship for all, especially at Thanksgiving and around the holidays.
Onsite Doctor Visits
We believe in onsite doctor visits at the Hermitage and at Hummingbird Cove Heath Center and, so do the medical professionals who visit us at our Eastern Shore community. Your health is important to us at the Hermitage and at Hummingbird Cove. We want to make sure getting checkups or meeting all your medical needs is convenient and easy for your health’s sake.
Don’t be surprised at the Hermitage if you see some pets wandering around, like Molly, our rescue dog who calls Hummingbird Cove home. We also allow residents who can care for their own pets to bring small animals with them, including cats, dogs, fish and birds.
Rotating Art Shows
One of the Eastern Shore’s community art leagues comes in every so often to showcase talented artists in our Art Lounge. Our residents can be inspired by these original works, and can visit them on their own schedule. Some are even up for sale if you want to buy a piece and take it home.
The Hermitage is located on 98 of the Eastern Shore’s most beautiful acres. Our main community is beautifully landscaped and manicured, providing a tranquil environment where you can smell the roses and listen to the birds sing. The Hermitage also recently acquired a drone, which can fly around and take video of our gorgeous campus.
Follow the footpaths to our peaceful pond, or sit on a bench and take in the beautiful landscape. We can assist you with your walks, or you can stroll by yourself or with family and friends. Breathe in the fresh air and relax.
Find a great book in the Hermitage’s library. It’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and offers a wide variety of books on innumerable subjects. If you want to peruse the Internet, log into one of two computers stationed in the library.
Your family is our family at the Hermitage. We welcome your loved ones to come and spend the day with you, enjoy a meal or participate in one of our many activities, or they can just drop by and say, “Hello.”
Grab a good book, a crossword puzzle or your tablet and retreat to one of our four lounges earmarked especially for quiet time. They’re comfortable, cozy and convenient.
If you want need spiritual healing or time to pray, visit our chapel, open 24/7. You can join our Bible study class, attend Sunday service via a video from Market Street Methodist Church or talk with a pastor, who visits the Hermitage three days a week.
Arts and Crafts
You’ll be pleasantly surprised at what you can make at our Tuesday arts & crafts class. Volunteers from the Community Art League assist residents in tapping into their creative side. Take home your work of art after you’re done. You’ll be glad you participated.
